It is always hard deciding where to go on holiday, so many people will give you their recommendations you will find it hard to make a decision. Looking on the internet for the best prices is always a good start, then if you need anymore advice you can always see a travel agent. One of the best places to find information out is the World Tourism Organisation.

The World Tourism Organisation is a very useful place, they do more than just advise you on where to holiday - but they can show you facts of the destinations like how many tourists they had at any particular year. They can even break down the stats showing which continents are most favourable.

For example the most popular country visited by tourists from around the globe is Italy, followed closely by France, Spain, UK and Germany. In fact currently around 18% of all holidaymakers travel to Europe each year for a vacation. The reason for this being is that many like to learn more about the architecture, culture and history of the many towns and cities within them.

Other popular destinations outside Europe include Africa, with Egypt being the first choice for travellers. Other countries like Rwanda, South Africa, Tunisia and Morocco are also becoming very popular amongst holidaymakers.

Asia is starting to become very popular with travellers - places like China, Japan and Thailand are highly visited. One reason for this growth is down to the Olympics and Para Olympics taking place in China. Japan and Thailand are hugely popular due to their totally unique way of living.

They offer a list of the top ten destinations for 2008 and their list seems to be dominated by Western European countries currently. Tresco, Isles of Scilly " This is situated of the west coast of England and is going to be a favourite because of the new built luxury development of holiday homes on it.

Naples in Italy has always a top favourite amongst holiday visits due to its spectacular scenery. Naples also has fantastic shops and restaurants that are always worth checking out.

City Breaks, France " Since the setting up of Eurostar getting to anyone of this countries wonderful cities not just Paris has become much quicker and easier. Although many may not believe it but you will receive a truly warm welcome when you visit any part of France.

Angkor Wat in Cambodia is a fantastic place to visit, there is so much to see and do. One must see is the World Heritage site where visitors can access for free.

Western Iceland is a fantastic place to be if you are looking to be alone or with a loved one, due to its secluded areas, this is the ultimate chill out holiday.

Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico is popular due to the fact that its food is second to none. There are plenty of Spanish and French cuisines to choose from.

Cook Islands, South Pacific " This is the perfect location if you are looking for some winter sun. Currently this place seems to be proving popular with holiday makers from the UK as the pound is very strong against the New Zealand dollar.

Monte Carlo, is known as a millionaires playground and is very popular with the rich and famous. Monte Carlo becomes very popular and expensive during the week of the Grand Prix.

Zambia Family Safaris " The reason that Zambia is gaining in popularity even though many people still travel to Kenya, Tanzania and Botswana for safaris is the cost. Not only is Zambia less expensive than the other destinations we have mentioned but the accommodation is suitable for families being large tribe sized homes. Plus the variety of wildlife to be seen is just as wide as in the other countries where safaris are popular.

Togo and Benin is a great place to holiday is you are looking to see another view of Africa. This country does not get many visits but it is still worth visiting. - 29956
